چکیده

Background The calculation of the extracellular volume fraction (ECV) requires accurate quantification of myocardial and blood pool T1. Some Modified look locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) sequences provide a T1 and T1* output. T1* does not use a look locker correction, and so it is theoretically a more accurate estimation of true T1 blood T1 because fresh spins are flowing into the imaging plane. It is therefore recommended to use T1* for the quantification of the preand post-contrast blood pool. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect on ECV of using T1* (ECVT1*) rather than T1 (ECVT1) and assess accuracy, precision and bias.

High-resolution modified look-locker inversion recovery (HR-MOLLI) for RV extracellular volume fraction at 3T and 1.5T: A feasibility study

Background Cardiac MR (CMR) is the reference standard for assessing macroscopic myocardial scar. Determination of the extracellular volume fraction (ECV) by T1 estimation using the modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) correction enables quantitation of diffuse fibrosis. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and reproducibility of an optimized high-resolution MOLLI ...

Histological Validation of measurement of diffuse interstitial myocardial fibrosis by myocardial extravascular volume fraction from Modified Look-Locker imaging (MOLLI) T1 mapping at 3 T

BACKGROUND Gadolinium (Gd) Extracellular volume fraction (ECV) by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) has been proposed as a non-invasive method for assessment of diffuse myocardial fibrosis. Yet only few studies used 3 T CMR to measure ECV, and the accuracy of ECV measurements at 3 T has not been established. Therefore the aims of the present study were to validate measurement of ECV by MO...

Myocardial T1 and extracellular volume fraction mapping at 3 tesla

BACKGROUND To compare 11 heartbeat (HB) and 17 HB modified lock locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) pulse sequence at 3T and to establish preliminary reference values for myocardial T1 and the extracellular volume fraction (ECV). METHODS Both phantoms and normal volunteers were scanned at 3T using 11 HB and 17 HB MOLLI sequence with the following parameters: spatial resolution = 1.75 × 1.75 × 1...

Effect of changes to Modified Look-Locker Inversion (MOLLI) sequence on T1 Mapping at 3.0 Tesla in healthy volunteers

Background Diffuse myocardial fibrosis may be quantified with cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) by calculating extra-cellular volume (ECV) from native and post-contrast T1 values. T1 values are affected by field strength and acquisition sequence. The Modified Look Locker Inversion Recovery (MOLLI) method of T1 mapping is a widely used approach, but many different acquisition schemes have ...
